The most important support doesn’t always go into a shopping basket

In recent years, families’ needs have changed, and the support they need increasingly goes beyond practical, everyday solutions. For parents, access to quality information, experts and trusted guidance is becoming an important resource.

In Romania, almost 28% of families have at least one child, according to the latest Eurostat data available for 2024¹. And every day, parents make decisions that range from nutrition and family routines to education, emotions, relationships and technology.

Today, information is more accessible than ever. But having more of it does not necessarily mean having more clarity. For every question, there are dozens of answers, sometimes contradictory, and choosing reliable sources can itself become a challenge.

A 2025 study by World Vision Romania² highlights just how quickly new challenges are emerging for parents: 51% of those included in the research say they talk to their children every day about social media use, while almost 70% say they do not feel sufficiently confident in their own abilities to support their children in the online environment.³

The need for guidance is not limited to technology. Sleep, emotions, boundaries, the parent-child relationship, autonomy, school and adolescence are just some of the areas in which parents are looking for answers today.

Parenting does not come with a universal manual, and access to research-based information and experts can help parents better understand the stages their children are going through and develop their own points of reference. As a result, in recent years, parenting education has become an increasingly visible topic in the public conversation.

Support for families can mean more

For 15 years, Lidl has been part of the everyday lives of families in Romania. If, traditionally, family support has been associated with products and solutions that make everyday life easier, today it can also mean access to information and education.

This is the perspective from which Lidl Romania is supporting ParentED Fest for the third consecutive year, a project dedicated to parenting education in Romania.

On October 17 and 18, 2026, at the Aula Magna of the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest, ParentED Fest will bring together international experts including Alfie Kohn, Erica Komisar, Isabelle Filliozat, Dr. Tina Payne Bryson, Dr. Daniel J. Siegel, Caroline Welch and Jessica Joelle Alexander.

Over two days, they will explore some of the questions families are facing today: attachment and the parent-child relationship, emotional education, boundaries, adolescence and children’s relationship with technology. Not from the perspective of universal recipes, but through perspectives and tools that parents can adapt to their own families and everyday lives.

An investment that doesn’t go into a shopping basket

For 15 years, Lidl has been part of the everyday lives of families in Romania. And as their needs have changed, so has the way support can be offered to them.

Beyond the products and solutions that make everyday life easier, there is also a need for information, education and access to experts. These are resources that may not solve an immediate need, but can continue to provide value long after a shopping trip is over.

For Lidl Romania, supporting ParentED Fest is one way of contributing to this kind of support: by giving families access to experts and meaningful conversations about the challenges of raising children today.

Because some of the most important things a family needs cannot be put into a shopping bag. Sometimes, they mean better information, new perspectives and a deeper understanding of the relationship between parent and child.
